Victor Eugene “Vic” Wayward, age 55, of Irons, passed away at home on Tuesday, night January 13, 2015, under the loving care of his family and hospice following a long illness.  He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan the son of Victor Raymond and Helen Mae (McKnght) Wayward.  Vic graduated from Kenowa Hills High School and completed classes in wood working and spent his life working as a carpenter.  He married the love of his life, Nancy Jean Shakinas on October 16, 1976, near Irons, and she survives.  Building houses, furniture and other things was never just a job for Vic, it was a passion.  Even after his illness had progressed, Vic spent hours in the garage making custom wood furniture.  He also loved music and played his guitar whenever he could, and loved his family dearly.

In addition to his wife, Vic leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Helen Wayward; his sons, Jessi (Dana) Wayward and Martin (Kim Long) Wayward; 4 beautiful grandchildren Tegan, Logan, Madelyn and Bradey; his step mother, Janice Peterson-Wayward; siblings Carol Wayward-Burba, Steve (Maria) Wayward and Pat Wayward; several nieces and nephews and a Dear friend of the family, Mike Collier, who was like a third son to Vic.
