Tom Haight, at the young age of 65, recently passed away at his home in Greenville, Michigan.  He was a kind, loving brother, father and grandfather.  He was a friend to many who crossed his path.  He was born in Saginaw, Michigan, on March 30th, 1949, son of the late H. Thomas Haight and Harriette Leaman Haight, of Ann Arbor.  Tom attended schools in Ann Arbor and Dexter, graduating from Dexter High School in 1967.  After graduation he attended Washtenaw Community College and Eastern Michigan University, where he studied biology and chemistry.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, classic rock music, and was a prolific reader.  Tom was an outstanding basketball player in high school and enjoyed a variety of sports.  He was a fan of the Detroit Lions, Tigers and Red Wings.  He had a very quick wit, was fun to be with, and lifted the spirits of those around him.  He was a tremendous help on his brother’s farm, lending a hand when things needed fixing or something needed to be built.  He had several certificates and licenses including a builder’s license, and gemology, insurance and insulation certifications.  He was supportive of the AA Program and mentored those needing a helping hand.

He is survived by his sister Debbie Ann Wagner and brother-in-law John Wagner of Georgia, and his brother Kenneth C. Haight and sister-in-law Elizabeth Haight of Greenville; a daughter Melissa Ann Wagner and son-in-law Jason Wagner of Jackson and a son, Christopher Rumage, of Whitmore Lake; and grandchildren Jorden, Zaydn, Alyssa, Alexis, Jase; and his faithful dog and companion, Alex.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at Verdun Family Funeral Home, 303 S. Bridge Street, Belding, Michigan, on Friday, March 20th, as the family greets visitors from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m.  A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 21st, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s memory are recommended to Boy Scout Troop, 111 of Grenville, Michigan.
