Anne Marie Speckin, age 87, of Belding, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.  She was born in Lansing, Michigan, on January 11, 1928, the daughter of Homer L. and Elizabeth (Fox) Edwards.   Anne attended a Hubbardston Schools, and worked in several capacities during her lifetime, including jobs at Peskes Packing Plant, Sears and a manufacturing company near Denver, Colorado.  She was a long term member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and devout in her faith life and prayers.  She moved to Belding following retirement to be near family and developed many strong and lasting friendships with her neighbors at Crosswinds Manor.  Anne was famous for decking the halls both inside and outside her apartment for every holiday season and loved socializing with everyone.  She enjoyed to cook and was in charge of many meals and events and would carry pieces of pie from door to door to share.  She loved watching Tigers baseball on television and would call family and friends to verify the start of the game to be sure she was tuned in and ready, almost never missing a game.   


She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Ronald Clair (Susan) Speckin of Ionia and Robert William (Debra) Speckin of LaBelle, Florida; grandchildren Jeffrey Clair Speckin, John Robert Speckin, Jennifer Anne Speckin, Nathaniel Speckin, Nicholas Speckin, Tammy (Joe) Bloem, Christina (Sam) Harris, Timothy Speckin and Max Speckin; several great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; a brother, Clarence “Click” Edwards of Belding; and many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, companion and brother-in-law, Walt Moore.  Anne was preceded in death by her parents; her second husband; two sons Dennis Lee Speckin and Brian Wayne Speckin; and eight siblings, Doris Edwards, Mary Edwards, Jane Rich, Margaret Moore, Homer “Eddie” Edwards, Raymond “Cookie” Edwards, Lawrence “Larry” Edwards and Jerry Edwards.


Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 30, from 6-8 p.m. at Verdun Family Funeral Home, 303 S. Bridge St., Belding, Michigan.  Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, May 1, at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Mark Bauer, the Celebrant.  Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.  Those considering an expression of sympathy are welcomed to consider a contribution in Anne’s memory to St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Envelopes will be available at the services or by contacting the funeral home at (616) 794-1300 or
