Kay Jean (Cooper) Jeppesen, age 78, of Belding, passed away at Spectrum Health, United Memorial Hospital in Greenville, under Hospice care, surrounded by members of her loving family, on Saturday, August 29, 2015, following a long battle with cancer.  Kay was born on February 4, 1937, in Belding, the daughter of Milton J. and Ethel Irene (Talbot) Cooper, both of whom preceded her in death.  She graduated from Belding High School and worked in several capacities during her lifetime including jobs at Gibson’s Manufacturing, Candlestone, Belding Middle School and the laundry mat, which she really enjoyed.  No matter what her work focus was, she always considered caring for her family as her primary goal.  She took care of the home, cooked, hosted countless events for family and friends and cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who had begun referring to her as “honey”, because that is what she had always called them to let them know she loved them.  Even while raising eight children, she always seemed to be on top of things all the time, like being able to be waiting up at just the right time when they would arrive home from an evening out on the town..almost like she had “E.S.P.”  Kay was also a life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Kay is survived by her dear children, Marcia (John) LeBel of Belding, Leonard “Sonny” Clark of Grattan, Susan (Rick) McQueen of Belding, Patrick Clark of Belding, Michael (Karie) Clark of Belding, Tony (Gerianne) Clark of Saranac, Elizabeth “Buffy” Loper of Belding and Daniel (Jackie) Clark of Belding; 18 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; siblings Joe (Sue) Cooper, John (Linda) Cooper, Dennis Cooper, Kent (Mariea) Cooper and Elizabeth (Ken) Taylor; a sister-in-law, Marjean Cooper; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Patrick Cooper and Gary Cooper, two sisters-in-law, Carol Cooper and Arlene Cooper; and a granddaughter, Connie Clark.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Verdun Family Funeral Home, 303 S. Bridge Street, Belding, Michigan, with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m.  Mass of the Resurrection will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 403 S.
