Susan Patricia “Pattie” Launiere, age 86, of Greenville, formerly of Belding, passed away at Metron of Belding Nursing Home on Monday, March 7, 2016, following a long illness. She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on September 6, 1929, the daughter of Wilbur Pearl “Gus” Sourm and Josephine Kujawinski.  She graduated from Union High School in Grand Rapids and shortly thereafter began raising her family.  She worked for a short time in a security position at Atlantic Mills department store, but her true love was caring for those she loved.  She exchanged vows Raymond Launiere on December 27, 1957 in Steuben County, Indiana, and he preceded her in death in 2005.  She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed spending time with her husband at veteran’s functions.  They also traveled when they could and spent time in Florida or at the cottage up at Hess Lake.  She enjoyed music and listened to it as much as she could never find a song she liked better than, “We’ll Have Fun, Fun, Fun, Til Daddy Takes Our T-bird Away”.  She had a great sense of humor, and alone, or with her “side-kick” brother, could keep a room full of family and friends entertained for hours.  Her greatest pass-time and passion was making a home for her children while she raised them and for them and all the grandchildren and great grandchildren once they had families of their own.

Pattie leaves her dear family to cherish her memory, including her children Steven (Pat) Moore of Saranac and Raelene (Douglas) Jones of Greenville; Grandchildren, Kimberly (Nacho) Areonllo of Saranac, Susan (Dan) Lemanski of Walker, Erin Hernandez of Ovid, Michigan, Nancy (Jeremy) Karbowski of Lake Worth, Florida, Bobbi Jones of Maurpeas, Louisiana, and Jackie Jones of Chattanooga, Tennessee; 11 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren with another one on the way soon!  In addition to her parents and her husband, Raymond, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Sourm.

A celebration of Pattie’s life will take place on Monday, March 14, at 1:00 p.m. at Family Life Center Church of God, with Pastor William Overton officiating.  The family will greet visitors for an hour prior to the service at the church, which is located at 8683 Story Road (M-91) just north of Belding. Private interment rites will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Grand Rapids.  Those considering an expression of sympathy are welcomed to consider a memorial contribution in Pattie’s memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.  For additional information, please contact the funeral home
