Max Karl Henry Adair, age 66, of Ionia, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, June 22, 2016. He was born in Ionia, Michigan, the son of Raymond Joseph and Karline Lena (Zander) Adair, Sr., both of whom preceded him in death.  His family moved to the Grand Rapids area when he was about seven years old, where he attended Wyoming Schools, graduating from Godwin Heights High School.  While in high school he was active in the Chess Club and became active in the Civilian Air Force as he was unable to service his country in the military, and continued that affiliation for many years after high school.  He worked for many years as a Die Maker at Pridgeon and Clay Manufacturing in Grand Rapids retiring about 8 years ago.  He moved back to Ionia to be nearer to family during his retirement.  Max loved computers and computer gaming, was an occasional “Facebooker”, and absolutely loved going on Ancestry.com to check out family history and genealogy.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and loved Asian culture, art and clothing, having lived there for about six months.

Max leaves to cherish his memory, his sister, Terry Adair Devereaux of Coral; his half-siblings, Trudy (Clay) Watson of East Lansing, Monica Adair of Ionia, Denise (Randy) Shattuck of Ionia, Raymond J. “Jr.” Adair of Florida and Stuart (Loretta) Buckley of Lake Odessa; a step sister Larieta (Chuck) Raison of Baldwin; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; several aunts, uncles, cousins and coworkers and friends.   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Philip Adair and Roy Buckley, an infant sister, Shirley, and his step-mother, Gayann Adair to whom he had grown very close.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, June 25, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Verdun family Funeral Home, 303 S. Bridge Street, Belding, and a funeral will take place beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Eva Walter officiating.  Private Interment rites will take place.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are welcome to consider a contribution in Max’s memory to the wishes of the family.  For additional information, please contact Verdun Family Funeral Home in Belding at (616) 794-1300 or www.verdunfh.com.
