Carol Sue Roberts

Carol Sue (Barker) Roberts, age 60, of Ionia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family under hospice care on Wednesday morning, February 19, 2025. She was born in Hastings, Michigan, on January 2, 1965, daughter of Marvin Sylvester and Sandra Sue (Shepard) Barker, both of whom preceded her in death. She attended Ionia area schools and worked for many years as a Meat Cutter at McCord’s Market in Ionia where many of the customers knew her. Carol was a caring mother to her children and a great friend to many. She loved the outdoors and would spend time in her garden enjoying time in the fresh air amid her flowers, surrounded by nature. She had a special affinity for butterflies but was an animal lover at heart, whether it was a dog, chicken, duck or frog. Carol will be missed by all who knew her.  

Carol leaves her dear sons to cherish her memory, Brenton D. Roberts of Ionia, and Michael N. Roberts of Portland; her beloved grandchildren, Christian, Connor, and Kayla; siblings, Karen (Mike) Towersy of Ionia, Mark Barker of Muir, and Mike (Jeni) Barker of Belding; Phil (Sue) King of Cave Creek, AZ, Debbie (Bill) Wilson of Glendale, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, several aunts and uncles, and a sister-in-law, Vickie Barker.
