Constance Marie “Connie” Mejia-Vunck

Constance Marie, “Connie” Mejia-Vunck, age 72, of Belding, formerly of Frankfort, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, April 23, at Spectrum Health - Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids following a brief stay. She was born in Frankfort, the daughter of Ernest Earl and Bernadine Orah (Knauer) Vunck. Connie graduated from Benzonia Central High School and worked in several capacities during her lifetime including a restaurant cook, at a canning factory, and a store called Sentimental Journey where she arranged flowers and was able to put her “crafty” talents to use. Though she worked in several different jobs throughout her life, her primary focus was her children and family. She moved to Belding nearly 50 years ago and has enjoyed many pastimes and hobbies including crocheting, reading, arts and crafts. She enjoyed watching television and had many dear pets over the years. One of her greatest sources of pride was her 27 years of sobriety and her active participation in the AA program and the help she gave to others on their journey. Connie will be dearly missed by her many family members and friends.

Connie leaves her children to cherish her memory including, Melanie (Tom) Tromp of Grand Rapids, Manuel (Lois) Mejia of Greenville, Kathy (Les) Loughin of Greenville, Carole (Glenn) Guinnup of Greenville, Kathleen (Mike) Fuhrman of Saranac, Kristine (Damon) Williamson of Belding, Joseph (Valerie) Mejia of Ionia and Paul (Trish) Mejia of Grand Rapids; step-children Melinda (Steve) Rush of Stanton and Andrea (Randy) Williams of Gowen; 50-plus grandchildren and great grandchildren; and siblings, Christine, Linda, Wendy and George. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest E. Vunck and Bernadine O. Braidwood.

Services will take place on Wednesday, April 26, with Visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. and a Service beginning at 6:00 p.m. with Jennifer Lien officiating. Interment is being planned for a later date.
