David J. Havens

David Joseph Havens, age 56, of Grand Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 15, 2021, at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Russell Joseph and Julie Ann (Frahm) Havens, both of whom preceded him in death. David graduated from Catholic Central High School with the Class of 1983 and continued his education taking classes to become an Arborist. He worked in several capacities during his lifetime including being self-employed in landscape and lawn care business. During his spare time, he enjoyed bowling and the great outdoors. While there were many challenges in David’s life and he needed help from others at time, he found ways to give back to others in meaningful ways. .

David leaves to remember him, his children, Merrisa (Eric) Hunting, Faith Havens, Stefini Noorthoek and Adrian Noorthoek; the mother of his children and lifelong friend, Marcia Noorthoek; many grandchildren; siblings, Kara (Terry) Stuits of Belding and Russell Havens of Rockford; an aunt, Rosanna Post; a niece Brenna Kimmet and nephew Joseph Zender; and many cousins and friends.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 24, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Verdun Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 303 S. Bridge Street, Belding, Michigan 48809. Graveside committal prayers will be led by Deacon Dan Schneider at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 26, at Otisco Township Cemetery. For those wishing to express sympathy, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the wishes of the family.
