David A. Leslie

Orleans, Michigan

David Arthur Leslie, age 77, of Orleans, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family under hospice care. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, son of Arthur B. and Ida M. (Ganger) Leslie, both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated from Oak Lawn High School with impressive accomplishments in both football and gymnastics. He completed his bachelor’s degree at Maranatha University and completed a year of seminary studies. David married Margaret “Margy” Kristine Sheehan on June 7, 1968, St. Timothy’s Chapel in Georgetown, Lake, Montana, and shared 56 years of marriage with her. Dave and his wife’s pastoral ministry began upon his college graduation, ministering in churches from Virginia to California and several states in between. Through the years they served as youth pastor, minister of music, teacher. Associate pastor and Pastor. He also served as Senior Pastor in two churches. His last ministry spanned 24 years as Associate Pastor at Green Corners Baptist Church in Belding, Michigan, while simultaneously serving as Chaplain in the prison system at MTU in Ionia, Michigan. Dave loved music and sports, rooting especially for the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He remained active in sporting activities as long as he could playing league softball into his mid-60’s. He was quite a joke teller (especially puns) and loved doing coin tricks. 

 He is survived by his dear wife, Margy, his children, Leesa Leslie of Dunlap, Illinois, David Leslie, Jr. of Lakeland, Florida, Ted (Angela) Leslie of Belding, Michigan, and Karianne (Seth) Rondeau of Spruce, Michigan; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; siblings Paul (Deanna) Leslie of Belding, Pastor James (Sandy) Leslie of Sidney, Nebraska; a sister-in-law, Debra Leslie of LaSalle-Peru, Illinois step-siblings, David (Bonnie) Krummen of Dade City, Florida and Melodie Stehley of Janesville, Wisconsin; 15 nieces; 16 nephews; and many cousins and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Leslie, a brother, Stephan Leslie and many aunts and uncles. 

 A Memorial Service will take place at Green Corners Baptist Church in Belding, on Saturday, September 28, 2024, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and the Service beginning at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Paul Leslie officiating.
