Diana G (Bykerk) Benn

Diana G. (Bykerk) Benn, age 57, of Ionia, passed away Saturday morning, November 5, 2016, at home under the care of her loving family and hospice. Diana was born on July 20, 1959, in Grand Rapids, Michigan the daughter of Arie Burt and Dorothy Jean (Gilde) Bykerk, both of whom precede her in death. She attended Grand Rapids schools for much of her education, and graduated from Caledonia High School. She worked in the nursing profession for several area nursing homes and Kent Community Hospital. Prior to entering the health care field, she was an accomplished model and worked for many years in that trade. Following her own years on the runway, she taught young aspiring models the craft at a modeling agency/school in Grand Rapids. Diana was a long-term member of Shiloh Community Church. She had many interests and hobbies including her love of hunting, fishing and the great outdoors in general.

She will forever be remembered by her dear family, including her daughter, Mandy Marie Benn of Ionia; a stepson, Brian David Benn of Jenison; her friend and former spouse, David Bruce Benn of Ionia; her grandchildren, Samantha Benn, Kaitlyn Van Koevering and Lexa Benn; her siblings, Karlene, Cindy, Vicky, Barb and Jeff; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Fred, and an infant sister, Carla.

A Memorial Service will take place at 7;00 p.m., on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Verdun Family Funeral Home, 303 S. Bridge Street, Belding, Michigan. The family will receive visitors for an hour prior to the service beginning at 6:00 p.m. Those wishing to express their sympathy are welcomed to consider a donation in Diana’s the benefit of the family or the charity of the donor’s choice.
