Donna Jean Ellsworth

Donna Jean Ellsworth, age 91, of Belding, passed away at Green Acres Assisted Living Center under hospice care on Saturday, September 1, 2018. She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on December 5, 1926, the daughter of Leston and Ellen Mae (Greeley) Alcumbrack, both of whom preceded her in death. Donna attended rural Cannonsburg Schools and graduated from Rockford High School. She continued her education at Davis Technical and worked for a time at Gibson Manufacturing prior to starting her family. She married Lawrence Manley Ellsworth, in Gowen, Michigan, on October 17, 1961, and enjoyed 56 years of marriage. Donna was a devoted wife and mother and took great care of her children and her home, making it a priority to always be waiting at the bus stop at the end of the school day to welcome the kids home. Donna loved spending time with the grandchildren as well and will fondly be remembered as the best mom and grandmother ever! Putting her accomplished seamstress skills to work, she and a friend made custom bedspreads and draperies. Donna was also a long-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Belding. Donna’s family would like to extend a special message of gratitude to Green Acres Assisted Living Center and Spectrum Health Hospice both of whom made the final few months of her life much more comfortable through their care.


The memory of Donna will be cherished by her beloved husband, Larry; and her dear children Kellie (Tom) Ellsworth-Lutes of Belding, Richard (Lorrenda) Ellsworth of Belding and Randy (Becky DeVault) Ellsworth of Lowell; grandchildren Josh (Katie) Adams, Sarah Ellsworth, and Brooke Ellsworth; special great grandchildren Michael Ellsworth Adams and Olivia Catherine Adams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will take place at the Belding American Legion Hall on Saturday, September 22, 2018. The family will greet visitors beginning at 11:00 AM with Tributes and Memories being shared beginning at 12 Noon. A luncheon and social time will follow. Interment is being planned at River Ridge Cemetery in Belding. Those wishing to express their sympathy through a memorial donation are welcomed to consider the Alvah N. Belding Memorial Library or Spectrum Health Hospice.
