Elizabeth Ann (Baumgardner) Whitney

February 5, 1958 — June 8, 2017

Elizabeth Ann (Baumgardner) Whitney, age 59, of Belding, passed away at home, under Hospice care surrounded by her loving family on June 8th, 2017. She was born on February 5, 1958, in Gaylord, Michigan to Charles Floyd and Lois Bernice (Norman) Baumgardner. Her family relocated to the Grand Rapids area while she was very young and she attended Godwin Schools. She married Ronald Eugene Whitney on November 16, 1974, and enjoyed 42 years of marriage. She worked for many years as a Teacher’s Aide in the Day Care area at New Branches Charter School in Grand Rapids. She and her husband, Ron were members at the Northeast Sportsmen’s Club in Lowell, and enjoyed camping there with family and friends. Ann also enjoyed gardening, crocheting and most of all time with the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always very committed to her family even being present at the births of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren until the most recent addition when her health made it impossible for her to be there.

Ann will be remembered by her dear family including her husband, Ronald Eugene Whitney, Sr.; her mother-in-law, Margaret “Peg” Whitney, children Cinder (Ed) Belcher, Shannon (Darrell) Taylor and Ronald (Shannon) Whitney, Jr.; Grandchildren Ashley “Peanut” (Travis) Smith, Katelyn “Bug” Trann, Benjamin “Bean” Trann, Lindzey “Olive” Taylor, Darrell “Bo Beast” Taylor and Ronnie “Cadbury” Whitney III; great grandchildren Lewis Anthony “King Louie” Simon, Serenity Ann “Renny” Smith and Maddeline “Maddie” Smith; a brother James ‘Jim” (Barb) Cole; sisters Bonnie Jones, Mary Kay (Rick) Hamilton, Sr. and Virginia “Gin” (Mike) Evans, Sr.; and several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law Richard “Dick” Whitney; and brothers Carl “Butch” Wing, David “Dave” Baumgardner, Mac Baumgardner, Warren “Bud” Baumgardner and Richard ”Rick” Baumgardner

Visitation will take place on Sunday, June 11, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and the funeral will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 12, at Verdun Family Funeral Home, 303 S. Bridge Street, Belding, Michigan 48809, with Reverend Gary Dougherty officiating. The family will also greet visitors at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
