Geri Denise (McCoy) Denman, age 48, of Belding, passed away unexpectedly at home on September 4, 2021. She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on October 17, 1972, daughter of Jerry David and Michelle (Jourdan) McCoy, both of whom preceded her in death. She graduated from Belding High School and completed nursing coursework to earn her Certified Nursing Assistant certification. She worked for many years as a C.N.A. in home health care settings, forging many close relationships with the patients she cared for. She used her skill and tender loving care to assist her own family on several occasions too, including her dear mother, Michelle. She married James Scott Denman, Sr., on June 6, 1995, at Shiloh Church in Orleans and he survives. In her younger years she loved to go cruising in Ionia and throughout the countryside with her cousin and life-long friend, Sonya Jourdan-Baldwin. Geri also loved spending time with family and friends, especially her dear grandchildren, who became the light of her life after their arrival. Her beloved dog, Madelyn Rose “Maddie”, a Pit Bull mix, always held a special place in her heart as well. She also traveled to Alabama and West Virginia through the years to visit relatives and connect with her extended family and its rich history.
The memory of Geri will be cherished by family and friends including her dear, husband, James, of Belding; her son, James Scott (Jacqueline I. Foss) Denman, Jr. of Orleans; grandchildren Jeremiah Denman and Jaylin Denman; her father- and mother-in-law, Mark and Shirley Denman of Orleans; sisters, Debi Howard of Whitehall, Barb (Kurt) Medendorp of Whitehall and Brenda (Rob) DeVita of Sterling Heights; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was recently preceded in death by a special aunt, Patsy.
