Lola Joann Marsh

Lola Joann Marsh, age 81, of Belding, passed away Monday morning, January 21, 2019 at home under the loving care of her family and Great Lakes Hospice. Lola was born on April 18, 1937 in Ionia, Michigan the daughter of Claude Lester and Ila Marian (Warden) McLellan, both of whom preceded her in death. She attended Ionia schools during her elementary education and graduated from Belding High School. Lola worked for several employers including Ardon Manufacturing in Ionia and Anathol Plastics in Belding. The job she enjoyed most was working in customer service at Meijer. She married Fred J. Marsh and enjoyed nearly 30 years of marriage with him. Together they raised their three daughters prior to his death in 1987. More recently, she met and married Clifford R. Airhart, enjoying 6 years of marriage with him. Lola enjoyed many pastimes including playing cards and board games. She was a great cook and baker and was happy to show anyone will to learn her secrets and recipes. Frequently though, she measured in “pinches” or “dashes” making it difficult for people to get exactly the same results when they tried to duplicate her recipes. During these past several years, Lola and Clifford have enjoyed many trips and travels to Kentucky, Tennessee and other places to see sights such as the Graceland Estate and the replica of Noah’s Ark.

Memories of Lola will be cherished by her dear family including her husband, Clifford; daughters, Leanna R. (Dave) Coston, Melanie A. (Mike) Howard and Theresa J. (Eric) Nielson all of Belding; a step-son, Clifford R. (Gina) Airhart III of California; grandchildren, Kayce (Charlie), David (Niccole), Danielle (Chris), Kristin, Todd (Lindsay), Kattie (Kelly), Erika (Kyle) and Brandon (Carissa); step-grandchildren Andrew and Matthew Airhart; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Dominic, Damon, Madalynn, Gabrielle, Roran, Donald, Makarah, Jaspyr, Kolt and Brock with another great-grandchild due in just a few days; siblings, Janet (Dave) of Ohio and Kenneth of California; and several cousins and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at Verdun Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 303 S. Bridge Street, Belding, with Pastor Shane Prewitt officiating. The family will greet visitors at the funeral home beginning at 12 Noon. Private interment rites are being planned at Otisco Township Cemetery.
