Marcia Irene Belanger, age 78, of Stanton, formerly of Belding, Howard City and Grand Rapids, passed away on Monday, January 13, at Laurels of Carson City nursing care facility. She was born in Lakeview, Michigan, on August 18, 1941, the daughter of Lawrence Stanley and Bayonne (Munn) Teed, both of whom preceded her in death. Marcia is a proud Belding Redskin graduate and went on to complete college coursework at Central Michigan University. She exchanged vows with Robert James Belanger on July 8, 1961, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Belding and has shared nearly 60 years of marriage with him. She served as a Para-Professional at several schools in the Wyoming, Michigan school district for more than 20 years and was the MEA Union Local, President for the support staff and helped many employees resolve issues. Marcia enjoyed reading Agatha Christie and Stephen King mystery novels, knitting and garage sailing. In fact, she enjoyed hosting garage sales much more than going to them at other people’s houses. Marcia was also an avid QVC shopper, always watching for the next great deal. She was a huge Detroit Tigers Fan and cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will always be remembered fondly for family outings wherein the station wagon would be loaded with the kids (and neighbor kids) and equipment for a trip to the park for a game of baseball and Marcia would play right along with the youngsters.
Those memories and more will always be cherished by Marcia’s family including her dear husband, Robert; children, Timothy (Shelly) Belanger of Grand Rapids, James (Tracy) Belanger of Holland and Dennis Belanger of Stanton; grandchildren, Kimberly (Nick) Downer, Tracy Antione, Amanda (Trevor) Dombrowski, Kellie Belanger and Andrew Belanger; 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Reva (Donald) VanHove of Hale, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Alice Mitchell of Belding; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers-in-law Albert Belanger and Laverne Belanger and a sister-in-law, Gerry Seyfferth.
