Marianne (Golden) Scheid, age 88, of Belding, passed away early Saturday morning, August 5, 2023, at Hathaway Hills Assisted Living Center in Greenville. The family wishes to thank Hathaway Hills and CorsoCare Hospice for the professional, dedicated care provided to Marianne during her stay. She was born on May 15, 1935, in Denver Colorado, daughter of Leo M. and Sarah C. (Cuthbertson) Golden, both of whom preceded her in death. Following her graduation from high school she attended an all- girls college. It was there that she met the love of her life, Jack Scheid who was stationed in Colorado with the Air Force and attended one of the co-ed dances hosted at the school. They exchanged vows on August 14, 1954, and enjoyed 67 years of marriage prior to his death in 2021. While being a homemaker and raising her family was her primary focus, she served for many years as the Food Service Manager at Belding schools. She was a great cook and baker and was an accomplished seamstress. Marianne ran her own catering business for a period of time and also provided mending and courtier services out of her home where alterations were a breeze and making dresses and outfits took a little longer but were always a perfect fit. She was a long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Belding where she was active in the Sisters In Christ and helped with countless projects and events. As busy as she was, she could find time for golf on a regular basis, playing on leagues each week and hitting the links with her husband Jack whenever possible. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Marianne leaves to cherish her memory, her dear children, Kathy (Craig) Bannister of Belding, Kenneth (Julie) Scheid of Benson, AZ, Thomas (Kathleen) Scheid of Rochester, MN, Patricia Scheid of Silver Springs, MD, William (Jane) Scheid of Brimley, MI and Nancy Emsley of Oceanside, CA; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; siblings, Susan (Bob) Scauzillo of Seattle, Washington, and Brian (Marilyn) Golden of Centennial. Colorado; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Golden and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 409 S. Bridge Street, Belding, with Fr. Phil Shangraw the Celebrant.
