Mary Ellen Pluskhat

December 30, 1944 — March 2, 2019

Mary Ellen Pluskhat, age 74, of Belding, passed away on Saturday March 2, 2019 under hospice care, surrounded by her two Daughters Kim and Angie and Granddaughter Shelby. Her Granddaughter prayed over her and asked God to take her home and take her home he did. She was born in Belding, Michigan on December 30, 1944, the daughter of Wilmont and Hattie Marie (Anderson) Milne, both of whom preceded her in death. Following her graduation from Belding High School she worked in several different capacities, including the Bakery at Meijer and Peski’s meat processing and packing in Ionia. She also worked at Listening Ear in Belding and most recently, served as an Adopted Grandma at Ellis School, which she dearly loved to do. Throughout her life, giving care and love to her family has been her primary concern and focus. She enjoyed hand sewing quilts, reupholstering furniture, painting anything she felt like it (Which included painting her shutters green, her bathroom purple and putting a Victorian spin on anything!) Coloring and teaching her grandchildren the “proper” way to color as well. HGTV specials and some good oldies or country definitely found their way into her home on a frequent basis. Never would you find Mary without a full face of beautiful makeup and the perfect curls. She was the definition of a classy woman.

Memories of Mary will be cherished by her children Kim Clark of Orleans, Angie (Wade) Douglas of Stanwood and James Shinabarger of Belding; grandchildren Nichole Clark, Lyndi Clark, Heather (David) Fletcher, Marisa Douglas, Ryan Clark and Shelby Douglas; great grandchildren, Ryder Fletcher, Lydia Douglas and Whitney Douglas; siblings, Connie Yancy, Bonnie (Glen) Schafer and Thelma (Steve) Humpert all of Arizona. A dear, dear friend whom she considered a sister, Vicky Moore Marlette; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends including neighbor and best friend, Clarence Edwards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Rick Clark and two brothers, James Wood, Roy Wood and her Granddaughter Aisha Douglas.

A Memorial Service celebrating Mary’s life will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 12:00 Noon at Verdun Family Funeral Home, 303 S. Bridge Street, Belding, Michigan 48809. Pastor Ken Harger officiating the Memorial Service. The family will greet visitors an hour prior to the service at the funeral home and a luncheon will follow.
