Nena (Sell) Fear

Nena (Sell) Fear, age 89, of Belding, Michigan, formerly of Monongahela, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. Nena was born on April 4, 1928 in Monongahela, the daughter of Charles Blaine and Irma Wilhelmena (Voelker) Sell, both of whom preceded her in death. She attended Transfiguration Catholic Elementary School where she earned an American Legion Certificate of Achievement. She completed her secondary education at Monongahela High School graduating with the Class of 1946. Nena worked in as a professional Administrative Assistant for many years. She met and later married Edward Earl Fear, exchanging vows with him on December 20, 1975, and he preceded her in death. Nena is a caregiver at heart having brought both her mother and aunt into her home for many years after they couldn’t live on their own. She took great pride in caring for her husband and home and extended family, while also working full time. In her youth, she enjoyed to roller skate and fondly remembers weekly family dance events at the local athletic club, an organization founded and run by her uncles and cousins. Since moving to Belding, she has been a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Nena will be remembered by her niece. Dr. Linda Satterlee of Belding and nephew Blaine Sell of Grand Rapids; and by Linda’s husband Lee Satterlee; and great-nephews Brandon and wife Angela Satterlee and Bryant Logan Satterlee; and many dear friends as she was a friend to all who knew her. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Leo Charles Sell and sister-in-law, Evangeline Sell; and several aunts and uncles, including a special aunt, Hattie.

A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday, April 7, at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Mark Bauer the Celebrant. Nena’s family will greet visitors at the church for an hour prior to the service. Interment next to her spouse, Edward, will take place at in Monongahela.
