Nicole Susan Geldersma, age 44, of Belding, passed away to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 25, at home surrounded by her loving family under hospice care. She was born on June 24, 1980, in Ionia, Michigan, daughter of Stuart Gordon and Paula Kay (Clark) Geldersma. She attended Clarksville School and completed high school in Belding. She worked for many years with the USDA Migrant Health Clinic in Belding. Among her many duties there, she served as an interpreter so that communication between patient and providers was smooth and accurate. Nicole loved to plan and host family gatherings at her home and had a huge and giving heart helping raise many children in addition to her own, welcoming anyone in need into her home. She will be dearly missed by her family and many dear friends.
Nicole leaves to cherish her memory, her father, Stuart G. Geldersma; her dear children, Aleksandr Silva of Grand Rapids, Jonathan (Madelyn) Silva of Hastings, Nathanial Silva, Cassandra (Max) Lopez, and TeoDora Lopez; her beloved grandchild, Santiago Lopez-Flores; siblings; Melissa Canizales, Jason Clark, Keri (Jose Roque) Geldersma, Ashley Geldersma, and Jenny Geldersma; an aunt and many nieces, nephews cousins and dear friends. In addition to her great grandparents, she was preceded in death by her dear mother, Paula Kay Clark, her grandparents, Lawrence and Beverly Clark and a brother, Andrew Geldersma, and a grandson, Elias Silva.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ionia on Friday, September 20, 2024, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and Mass at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Tom Brown the Celebrant. Private interment rites will take place at Balcom Cemetery at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy are welcome to consider a memorial contribution in Nicole’s memory to the wishes of the family.
