Robert Henry “Bob” Knapp, age 74, passed away August 9th, 2023, at his home in Ionia following his battle with cancer. Bob was born in Ionia on January 22, 1949 where he lived his entire life and worked as a self-employed contractor. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a proud master of making a variety of unique fishing poles. Bob was also an Associate member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He had many friends and enjoyed several hobbies including tinkering with his truck.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eldon and Lilah (Keehn) Knapp and a sister Sharon Merklinger. He is survived by his daughter Tracie Callaway, son-in-law Tony Callaway, granddaughter Kelsee Haskin, brother Ron Knapp, sister-in-law Jan and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was a simple man and didn’t want a formal service but he would have loved a gathering of his family and friends. We want to honor him for the joy he brought to so many. Please join us for a celebration of his life at Renucci’s banquet room located at 538 North State Street in Ionia on August 27th from 1pm to 4pm. Private interment rites will take place at Tuttle Cemetery near members of his family who preceded him in death.
