Ross Berdell Taylor, Jr.

December 3, 1950 — August 13, 2017

Ross Berdell Taylor, Jr., age 66, of Fenwick, formerly of Belding, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit following a brief stay there. He was born on December 3, 1950, in Detroit, the son of Ross Berdell and Elayne Eloise (Johnson) Taylor, Sr. He graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1969 and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He served his country in several capacities including as a member of the 101st Airborne Screaming eagles, and as a Point Man with 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, and a Door Gunner with A101 Assault Helicopter Unit. He also trained service dogs for the military K-9 Unit. Following his discharge from the military, he worked in road construction for many years. Ross married MaryLou Juarez on September 17, 1978 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a member of the Sheridan V.F.W. Post and a Camaro car club member.

Ross will be remembered by his family including MaryLou, his wife of 38 years; children, Summer (Rob) Hulett of Fowlerville, Heather Hamilton of Sheridan, Jacob “Jake” (Sarah) Hamilton of Greenville and Neal (Valerie Pittman) of Crystal; grandchildren Ariel, Christina, Daniel, Emma, Chad, Stephanie, Toby, Angelina, Jack, Kyah and Courtney; 4 great-grandchildren Bentlee, Reace, Kaysn and Quinton; sisters, Barb (Charles) Wood of Belding, Shirley Peterson of Belding and Laura (Ross) Hoekstra of Grandville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, R.D. Lake and Robert “Skip” Taylor.

A Memorial Gathering with Military Honors and Luncheon will take place beginning at 12 Noon on Friday, August 18, 2017, at the Belding V.F.W. Post. Those considering a contribution in Ross’ memory are welcomed to make them to the family to assist with expenses.
