"J.A.R.V.I.S., make a note. Remind me not to wake up in the morning. Ever again."
On June 23, 2023, our beloved Iron Man, Zack Chivell, hung up his Mark LXXXV suit, relinquishing his role as defender of the universe to the rest of the Avengers. Surrounded by his family, he passed away peacefully.
Zack's journey began in 1983, on April 11, when he was born to Maggie (Randy) Sorenson. He was an exceptional brother to his siblings: Sarah (Eric), Matt (Jackie), Ruth (Dennis), and later became a cherished sibling to Alisha (Shannon), Rhonda, and Jacob (Tiffany). Zack possessed an infectious spirit, always radiating liveliness. In his younger years, he could often be found at his friends' houses, engrossed in games and sporting his fashionable earring.
In 2002, Zack found his own Pepper Potts in Jessica. Much like Tony Stark, Zack fearlessly embraced this new chapter of his life, instantly becoming a devoted husband and a loving father to Jessica's daughter, Abby. They exchanged vows on April 9, 2005, and soon welcomed another daughter, Ella. Zack delighted in actively participating in his daughters' lives—attending every event, building Legos together, and imparting culinary skills. His expertise even extended to the grocery store, where he spent countless hours on the phone with Abby, expertly guiding her to locate specific items. However, it was Jessica who held the key to Zack's heart. His love for her knew no bounds, surpassing human measure. Words fail to capture the depth of his affection. Zack and Jessica's love endured life's trials—medical diagnoses, the loss of loved ones, career shifts, and unexpected surprises—enabling them to revel in life's precious moments. Together, they embarked on adventures, exploring new horizons, while Zack captured countless photographs of Jessica, captivated by her beauty. Among their treasured memories, a trip to Disney World, organized by their friends and family, holds a special place in their hearts—an unforgettable experience while Zack still had the ability to move freely.
Beyond his heroic endeavors, Zack was an unwavering friend, always demonstrating a genuine care for those around him. His thoughtfulness manifested through quick texts, uplifting words, game nights, and his passion for cooking. Zack's friends never doubted the depth of his love and appreciation, even when he triumphed over them in board games.
In his passing, Zack reunites with Dee Latier (mother-in-law), Grandma Ev, and all the kittens he held dear over the years.
Tony Stark's final words provide solace and resonate with what we believe resided in Zack's heart:
"Everybody wants a happy ending, right? But it doesn't always roll that way... that's the hero gig. Part of the journey is the end. Everything is going to work out exactly the way it's supposed to. I love you 3000."
Zack, we’re going to be okay now. You can Rest.
